Pre-processing equipment

We should first check the tools needed to install the cable lug, scale, hexagonal spanner, tap, plate file, hand saw, blade or electrician's knife, special metal scissors, hammer, emery cloth, sharp nose pliers, water jaw pliers, woof pliers, screwdriver, brass brush, special installation tools, etc. We should have all the tools available.

Removing the connector

We first dismantle the detachable parts of the cable lug in sequence. The end of the cable lug is fixed, nailed to the shaft plate, with the end sticking out 200mm-300mm and the end angled downwards at an angle of around 30°-45° to the horizontal. Then use a hand saw or electrician's knife to peel off a section of the cable lug sheath about 45mm long, the cross-section is required to be kept straight. After using sealant to evenly coat a circle on the sheath surface where it meets the outer conductor (the part that can be covered by the connector's rear end cap), the cable lug's rear end cap (compression lock ring), gasket, and seal are sequentially set on the cable, and the cable lug's connection sleeve is rotated in the direction of the outer conductor spiral and installed on the outer conductor with the sheath removed, close to the end of the cable sheath.

Installation of copper tubes

We use a copper brush to remove any sheathing powder, copper shavings, etc. left at the head of the cable. The excess outer conductor of the wrinkled copper tube is cut off with special metal scissors about 2 mm from the end of the cable lug protection sleeve. Then use a pair of pliers to flare and flange the outer conductor of the wrinkled copper lug, and use a pair of pliers, hammers, and other suitable tools to gently tap it against the end surface of the outer casing. Note that the flanged edge requires uniformity and roundness. Then remove the sharp corners and trim the burrs with tools such as water-jaw pliers, files, and emery cloth. For smooth cable lug copper tube inner conductors, use a hand saw to saw off the insulation strip and inner conductor sticking out of the outer conductor, use a file to flatten the inner conductor (wrinkled) copper tube end face, remove the corners and use a tap to tap, the depth should be compatible with the thread length of the inner conductor assembly; for wrinkled copper lug inner conductors, we cut off the insulation strip sticking out of the outer conductor with a pair of water-mouth pliers and use special metal scissors to cut off the appropriate length of the inner conductor. The inner conductor assembly is then screwed onto the inner conductor (wrinkled) copper tube. For smooth copper tubes, the inner conductor should be tightened with woof pliers; for wrinkled copper tubes, the threads on the inner conductor assembly should be screwed into the inner conductor by approximately 2 mm and the inner conductor should be gently tapped with a suitable tool such as sharp-nosed pliers or hammer to turn the inner conductor inwards and wrap the inner conductor assembly inside the inner conductor; the threads attached to the inner conductor assembly are left exposed. The flanged edge must be in close and solid contact with the cable lug assembly.

Winding-up

We close up the cable lug with the seal, gasket, and rear end cap, in turn, tighten the rear end cap and connection sleeve with a spanner and wipe off any excess sealant. The snap plug is then inserted into the inner conductor assembly. The seal, connector protective cover is fitted and fixed by coupling fasteners; the cable is inflated by unscrewing the protective nut of the inflation nozzle on the outer housing and filling it with dry air.
